Practice of Sedition
In a world built upon a foundation of conflict, the past year has been notably violent. As Crux Fidelis, the Crusaders and ruling faction of Sium, suffer heavy losses from a particularly bloody Aphelion, other factions are emboldened to take action. Despite being allies, Weltschmerz's ambitious and duplicitous nature sees them taking bigger risks which threaten to break their alliance. All the while, Apocrypha continues to gain public sympathy and support while the Black Sun Cabal and Poena Damni continue to wreak havoc. As Sium races towards yet another conflict, it’s evident that a war lurks on the horizon.

weapons
Focusing staff - a simple staff that Aly uses to channel her magic through, though it is not required to cast spells. It often simply serves as a focal point and aiming aid. It is quite sturdy though, so sometimes she whacks people with it.
abilities
Fire Magic: Aly mainly specializes in spells that utilize fire to some extent, be they fireballs, walls, cones or explosions. She tends to be able to not suffer any ill effects of being near her own flames. She can set weapons on fire, too, but that is usually not a good idea for long. Her fire often lacks physical presence though, meaning while she can burn others, she lacks stopping power.

Ice magic: Aly also dabbled into the opposite of her main focus, though she is not as good with it. In fact, her affinity for flame also shows with her ice spells. They lack the finesse and clear surfaces that other mages might be able to produce and are instead often jagged, as if they are frozen flames. In fact, she can also create what she calls burning ice, blue-white flames that radiate intense cold and act like normal fire would. Aside from that, she usually only conjures up ice in defensive spells.

Limited Teleportation and self-levitation: Spells that improve mobility, though not by as much as she would like to. She often has to wait quite a bit to use those again.

Minor healing: She can dress wounds with her magic (and often just burn out wounds, though that might not be too useful). She is nowhere on the level of a true healer, though.

Arcane memory: Alyssa has devised a library all of her own within her mind, utilizing magic. With this, she can store a wealth of information and often display it using fiery constructs, if possible.

backstory
A tragic, violent upbringing, family members dying left and right – that was something Alyssa had been spared. Instead, she was cursed with something that, while nominally better than something like that, still felt like a terrible fate to her.
Talent.
No, she was not born with godlike powers or the like. But she had a strong affinity towards magic, especially for someone growing up in a rather small mountain village. Their village was protected by a dragon lady, meaning that she had a rather peaceful childhood. But, eventually, she realized that she could not fully realize herself in a place like this. As such, she eventually left the village with tentative blessing of her parents.

While her travels were not without minor incident, she eventually made it to civilization proper, eventually even into one of Caersewiella’s more prestigious academies. While she never held a strong belief in the Crux’s teachings and values, she simply accepted it all as long as she could improve her magical abilities.
Alyssa even became really good at it, impressing her mentor. But she never really had a plan as to what to do after she finished her studies, believing that she could just continue them forever, with the occasional foray to support members of the organization proper.

However, eventually came the day when there was nothing that could be taught to her anymore. It was on said day, that her mentor urged her to formally join the Crux and become a valuable member.
Despite having just gone with the flow up until then, Alyssa was hesitant to do so. The organization did feel as if it would hold her onto her vows until death. Somehow, that did not jive too well with her. Convincing her mentor to give her some time to see the world first and make some experiences on her own – along with visiting her home again – she eventually left the academy. She did have plans to return, definitely, but she also wanted to enjoy some freedom before she made the full decision, even if it was dangerous on her own.
