Chronos or his real name Regulus was born in the rich city of Empyrean. His family once served the monarch before Crux Fidelis seized the power and take over what once the job of the nobles. Their lack of power in the government made them despised Crux Fidelis. Even though they still retain their nobility, it was sad to say their purpose have all been extinguished.
His parents, in particular, were anti-Crux and had boldly proclaimed their hate towards them. His parents try to groom Regulus to do the same and it would have worked if not for his grandfather's teaching. His grandfather was the only member of the family that did not hate Crux. As a matter of fact, he was glad the monarchy was abolished.
His grandfather was the one who comforted Regulus when he had nightmares. He often seeks the old man for a bedtime story and reassurance that he's been a good child. So throughout his childhood, it was his grandfather that raised him to be a polite and disciplined young man.
He's also the one who taught him the art of swordsmanship and forging. Regulus's grandfather often tells him his life story when he worked in Weltschmerz before he retires years ago due to an experiment went wrong.
His parents didn't know of the lessons Regulus had been taking from his grandfather and it came to a great shock for him that his parents had enrolled him in a prestigious school that was hard to get in. Regulus was distraught since he knew his grandfather wouldn't have a long life. He had seen how the old age affects the old man. It will be the matter of time before he died, leaving Regulus alone at the mercy of his parents.
He had expressed his concern but his grandfather assured him that he will be fine and Regulus should take the opportunity to learn other things. With a heavy heart, Regulus accepted the admission. The school was part of the top elitist school in Empyrean. They offered all sort of class to their students. His parents being the prick they are had chosen almost all courses available, engineering is included.
It was during his school years that he discovered his love for machinery and engineering. He had also discovered he was a genius, given the fact he could process complex equation at the age of fifteen. Years go by and Regulus managed to graduate with his flying colours. He hid his genius mind from the school though since he didn't want his parents to know them.
Unfortunately, a day after his graduation, his grandfather had fallen ill and passed away. He grief for days after his death. To Regulus, he had lost his father figure and pillar of strength. He was 18 when the old man passed away. It took him two months to recover from his grief. Unknown to Regulus, his parents had concocted something sinister which will cause Regulus to discard his morality and ultimately his name.
A few days after he had overcome his grief of his grandfather's death, his parents had drugged him and brought him to an underground facility which the riches performed rituals that requires human sacrifice. These sacrifices were believed to increase their luck on acquiring more health and it was unfortunate that his parents did not care that he's going to be killed because of some mislead faith.
Regulus was unconscious but unfortunately for the cult, the drug didn't last for long in his system. He was tied up when he woke up and it was to his utter shock that he was in an unknown room surrounded by strangers. He tried to move but sadly the rope limits his movement.
He wasn't stupid as he realized what his parents tried to do.
They are going to kill him. Never in million years would he had thought his parents had the guts to kill their only child but it would seem he was proven wrong. His morality, the one he clings onto since his grandfather's death began to chip away. He had not carried any sort of weapon on him since his parents had all kidnapped him after his meal.
However, the death did not come as swiftly as Regulus expected. They had taken the time to systematically torture him. It was as if they try to break him before they did the ritual. Unfortunately for them, Regulus possessed an iron will.
He will never bow down to those bastards.
Not even death would do the trick. Days upon days gone by and Regulus was getting desperate. He wished to escape from the hell he's currently in. He didn't think he would survive another round of torture.
His patience was rewarded when someone came and released him from his chamber. It was one of the members of Sky Pirates and they had caught a whiff of some cult with lots of money hidden underneath the empyrean ground. The situation was chaotic with people trying to escape the dungeon and erase their presence from there.
Unfortunately for them, Regulus wished for vengeance and vengeance shall he get. The sky pirate had given him a dagger for self-protection. However, Regulus saw this opportunity to end their lives. He disregards his morality just for that moment and slaughtered them. Unfortunately for Regulus, his parents managed to escape.
How they escaped, he had no idea. At this point, he knows going back to his old life would be pointless. His mind, his view of the world had completely changed and he's not sure how he could adapt to the world of nobility when he's responsible for slaughtering almost half of them?
The sky pirate must have heard his dilemma and offers him to join them. At first, Regulus was sceptical but seeing as he had nowhere to go, he accepted the offer. Regulus changed his name to Chronos but kept his family name in honour of his grandfather.
When he finds out the Sky Pirate need someone to maintain their ship, well, Chronos volunteered almost immediately. He loved machinery so why not do what he loves best?
It had been 2 years since the event that lead him to Sky Pirate happened. It was a fulfilling life despite a headache he usually gets whenever someone had broken a weapon. Even so, Chronos wouldn't change it for the world.
