Practice of Sedition
In a world built upon a foundation of conflict, the past year has been notably violent. As Crux Fidelis, the Crusaders and ruling faction of Sium, suffer heavy losses from a particularly bloody Aphelion, other factions are emboldened to take action. Despite being allies, Weltschmerz's ambitious and duplicitous nature sees them taking bigger risks which threaten to break their alliance. All the while, Apocrypha continues to gain public sympathy and support while the Black Sun Cabal and Poena Damni continue to wreak havoc. As Sium races towards yet another conflict, it’s evident that a war lurks on the horizon.

Appearance Extras
He has large wings tattooed on his back and runic symbols circling his right wrist. Also almost too many scars to count, some almost faded completely and others far fresher. When he uses his power to transfer injuries to himself, it usually leaves a mark.
Adrian’s Bellicosa is a shield, rather than a weapon like most of those who fight for the Cross. It’s usually the size of a buckler, small enough for him to leave hanging off his hip when he’s not using it, but it can change in size- all the way up to a mantlet that he can wedge in the ground and comfortably fit a couple people behind. The shield is able to block and deflect mundane attacks rather easily, and if he focuses some sillage, he can also absorb magical attacks. He can reflect them back at the attacker, too, at the cost of more power. Pouring sillage into the shield can be very draining- especially if he’s using it to bock magic. If he absorbs sillage from other magical attacks into it, he can let out a blast of energy that's in proportion to what had been absorbed (though this drains even more of his sillage than a deflection or reflection).

He also uses a spear, and though it’s well made, it doesn’t have any magical properties. As a backup weapon, he commonly carries around a short sword as well in case he has to fight in close corridors.
From being a Fae, Adrian has a few inherent abilities. He doesn’t age physically after reaching his pique physical form, and he’s unaffected by human sickness and diseases. He’s also able to easily digest plant life that humans wouldn’t, such as grass, flowers, and the bark off trees. It doesn’t taste bad to him, either. Adrian's considerably heartier than humans, able to take more of a beating, and he heals roughly four times faster. And by touch, he can transfer selected injuries to his own body, to varying degrees (for example, he can target a mortal wound and transfer half of the damage to himself).

After sillage was introduced to the world, he was able to learn to manipulate it through an enchanted ink to alter his own body. The tattoo across his back works as focus for his magic. The wings on his back allow him to, unsurprisingly, sprout wings which he can use to fly. Since that first attempt, he has been unable to recreate the enchanted ink.
personality/fun facts
Overall, Adrian is a good man. Sure, he can be a bit stubborn or selfish at times, but he does his best to be just and fair. After living for the better part of a millennium, he has developed an almost overbearing sense of responsibility. He has learned that his actions can have long-standing consequences, and he does his best to keep from impacting others negatively. Unless he believes they deserve it, of course- he’s not above wiping out some evils from existence.

When he was younger, his sense of duty drove him for the most part. While he still holds tradition in a high regard, he has learned that sometimes it’s best if the rules are bent a bit. His sense of morals are still in tact, but he treats the gray areas in a rather relaxed manner. Adrian does hold grudges for a long time, and it’s not easy to gain forgiveness from him. He’s rather easy to befriend, but true loyalty from him is more difficult to earn.
Born long before the world was blessed with sillage, Adrian knows the darkness that enveloped the world centuries ago. He was raised in it, living in a small community of faeries within the rainforests within what’s now known as Pluviall. Their existence was hidden, which was how they kept from being wiped out by the demons that freely roamed the land. Out of necessity, their small village of Flavian partook in arranged marriages and bonding rituals, their population low enough that they thought it needed for their continued survival.

For the first couple hundred years of his life, Adrian was free to focus mostly on himself and his family. Of course he was pressured to take part in the rituals sooner, but he held out. He was well aware that he held no attraction towards women, but he also knew that it didn’t matter. Adrian waited as long as he possibly could before being bonded to Cora-Anne, a will-o’-the-wisp that he had known since he was young. In Flavian, everyone knew everyone else. He could tell that she didn’t want to be bonded either, but they proceeded for the sake of their village.

At first, during the initial century or so, Adrian genuinely tried to make their relationship work. He tried to force himself to love her, to be as affectionate as he knew he should be. But neither of them wanted it, and it was damn near hell. Especially with the brands that connected them at the ritual, allowing them to telepathically communicate with each other, they were fighting with each other more often than anything else. They couldn’t control it at first, commonly sending thoughts on accident that sparked an argument.

Fairly early in their marriage, it was clear that Cora-Anne was in love with someone else. At first he tried to just ignore it, but he eventually he could tell that their relationship would never work the traditional way. He proposed an idea that worked incredibly well for the both of them. Their relationship became entirely open, Adrian giving free consent for her to be with her lover. It allowed him to pursue brief flings with other men as well, though he wasn’t at all interested on settling with one sexual partner.

Throughout all their years together, they have mated a few times. But with the low fertility rates of fae, they’ve only had two children (only one of which is actually Adrian’s). He's well aware that the second child isn't his own, but that doesn't seem to bother him. He raised the child as his own anyway- as far as he's concerned, it is his. Without the stress of trying to be lovers, he found Cora-Anne to be his best of friends. He did grow to love her, just not in the way that he initially wanted to. She was his family, the mother of his children, and they had been through hell together. He would do anything for her, his children, and his grandchildren.

When sillage came to be a couple hundred years ago, it was the first time Adrian actually felt hopeful for Sium’s future. He was graced with some of its power, and he learned to control it as quickly as possible. As the demons were beat back, him and Cora-Anne were finally free to leave Flavian and explore the world without the constant fear. They managed to develop quite the fortune over the years, Adrian focusing mostly on fighting against the evils of the world regardless of whether he was paid or not.

Back when the Crux Fidelis was fighting against the corrupt monarchy, Adrian joined their forces. He has been with them ever since, though he wasn’t the most active of members during times of peace. With the recent events of demons growing in power again, he has started taking on many more missions to keep them at bay. He refuses to let the world spiral back to the darkness that he still remembers quite well. Of course he still has some fun on the side, typically in the form of one night stands wherever he happens to be within Sium. Unknowingly, he mated with a golden roc about seven years ago, and he was completely unaware of the dire consequences of that one night.
