Practice of Sedition
In a world built upon a foundation of conflict, the past year has been notably violent. As Crux Fidelis, the Crusaders and ruling faction of Sium, suffer heavy losses from a particularly bloody Aphelion, other factions are emboldened to take action. Despite being allies, Weltschmerz's ambitious and duplicitous nature sees them taking bigger risks which threaten to break their alliance. All the while, Apocrypha continues to gain public sympathy and support while the Black Sun Cabal and Poena Damni continue to wreak havoc. As Sium races towards yet another conflict, it’s evident that yet another war lurks on the horizon.

The Rebels
Comprised by a majority of former Crux Fidelis members, with other members simply resonating with their cause, Apocrypha stands in defiance of the Cross. Being predominantly a group of deserters who abandoned Crux Fidelis due to their methods, most people’s response to them are quite mixed. Despite the fact many people in Sium don’t whole-heartedly agree with the Cross’s methods, it cannot be denied that they’ve had a positive effect on Sium. From stymying the demon threat when no one else could to overthrowing the oppressive monarchy, the Cross has a fair bit of people who support them. As such, a group that stands against them is not likely to be received well – which is why most members of Apocrypha do not make their connection to the rebellion known.

Most of the ones who joined Apocrypha without any prior connection to Crux could be mistake as any other person, quite of few of them still having day jobs and whatnot. While they do not have a mandatory uniform and there isn't a complicated hierarchy of ranks in Apocrypha, each province does have its own director who handles executive matters. But, more importantly, keep in contact with the remnants of monarchy who are the main ones backing the rebellion. Very few people are aware of this, with only the directors and perhaps a trusted assistant or the like having knowledge of this.

For those who left Crux Fidelis, renouncing The Cross and the Pontifex, the Anathema magic no longer affects them. This has its pros and cons. There's a fair chance of at least a few Anathema residing in Apocrypha, but they won't be pursued by their comrades. However, the disloyalty causes the Bellicosa to lash out at their wielders, leaving a burning pitch-black brand of some sort somewhere on their body and then disappearing. This brand is commonly referred to as "Stigmata". The branded are left powerless and marked as traitors. Usually, those who defect have already contacted Apocrypha beforehand and can make it to safety before the Cross can get to them.

In stark contrast to the Cross' divine weapons, the members of Apocrypha make pacts with demons, using their infernal powers to fight. Those who want to participate in combat will often make pacts with demons who lend their power to them in return for a variety of things such as ownership of their soul upon death, a sustained amount of sillage/life force, etc.

Apocrypha’s goals are all over the place, in all honesty. On one hand, they want to take down the Sins, much like The Cross but at the same time, they want to overthrow Crux Fidelis which would re-establish the monarchy, a better monarchy free of corruption admittedly, but most are unaware of this.

A majority of the members seek freedom from what they could consider an oppressive military regime that utilizes mysterious weapons no one can truly understand and mind control. Apocrypha is still a relatively small organization however, and they are seen as little more than meddlesome rebels. Or at least that's what the higher ups in Crux Fidelis will comment publicly on them when asked. The fact that Cross members are told to apprehend Apocrypha members upon discovery shows that the Cross is feeling threatened by them.

In addition to this, the remnants of the monarchy have opened communications with Weltschmerz. And while the science faction is publicly allied with Crux Fidelis, they’ve shown interest in a revival of the monarchy so long as it benefits them in the long run. But, as it stands now, they choose to stay on the ‘winning’ side – Crux Fidelis – but a very select few members of Weltschmerz may be found speaking to or even assisting members of Apocrypha.

HQ location: multiple small HQs scattered in each province

The Directors - While Apocrypha doesn't operate under any one leader, there are four people who have a large say in what goes on in any certain region of Sium. These powerful rebels are known as Regional Directors, and they are exactly what they sound like.

In order to stay out of danger, Apocrypha is spread out over all of Sium, which makes large scale communication difficult. It is a Director's role to oversee and command the operations of Apocrypha members in their region. They also communicate with other Directors to keep some form of order among the faction.
