Practice of Sedition
In a world built upon a foundation of conflict, the past year has been notably violent. As Crux Fidelis, the Crusaders and ruling faction of Sium, suffer heavy losses from a particularly bloody Aphelion, other factions are emboldened to take action. Despite being allies, Weltschmerz's ambitious and duplicitous nature sees them taking bigger risks which threaten to break their alliance. All the while, Apocrypha continues to gain public sympathy and support while the Black Sun Cabal and Poena Damni continue to wreak havoc. As Sium races towards yet another conflict, it’s evident that a war lurks on the horizon.

Flying high in the sky, black wings spread outwards, Roux watched the Crux Fidelis transport with a lackadaisical expression on his face. He’d been following it for what felt like hours and now he was just… Tired. Dipping down, he began to slowly lower towards the caravan though he stayed a good distance away from it. He didn’t want to get too close and alert the clueless Hallowed before it was his time to strike. Roux couldn’t deny though – he was quite happy he was being sent to Seracier anymore. He had grown to despise the region and the snow that plagued it.

Still, he couldn’t help but be annoyed by the assignment he’d been given. Wasn’t there anyone else capable of doing something so simple? Or was the monarchy just that worried about things going awry that they’d send a Demon Knight to get the job done? And why did it have to be him? The job in question was ‘silencing’ an informant who was in Crux Fidelis protection. From what Roux understood, the informant had information about the new monarchy they didn’t want released. Roux knew it was important information, especially if he was being sent to handle it, but there were other Demon Knights. Why could they have fucking done it?

Once the caravan was in position, going around a tight bend near Lake Cyanea he immediately dove down, sparks of electricity surging around his body. Rocketing down to the carriage, he landed on it violently – a wave of electricity erupting from his body. It paralyzed the horses that pulled not only the carriage he landed on but also the carriages in front and behind the one his target was in. The sudden disturbance caused the lead carriage to topple over while the one behind him veered off to the side.

Almost immediately the door burst open and the informant fell to the ground. A hand extended towards the man who was scrambling to get to his feet. Immediately a wave of red energy began to be pulled from the informant to Roux’s hand as his eyes shifted from gold to red. And slowly but surely he began to drain the life from the man until the only thing left was an empty husk.

Standing on top of the carriage, Roux looked around as Hallowed began to spill from the carriages and weapons were immediately drawn. Shifting on his feet, he didn’t move from the top of the carriage though his movement caused black feathers to litter the surrounding area. Red electricity began to spark in his eyes as a blade slid from his wrist into his palm.

“Jinkies.” He muttered quietly, knowing that a violent confrontation was inevitable. But that was Okay – this was the natural course of things. He was a Rebel, they were Hallowed. He was Apocrypha, they were Crux Fidelis. There was no point in bullshitting or trying to be social; they were enemies.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Which was fine.

A sacred sin, a dying breed
Transportation missions were normally quite boring. Most of the time nothing really happened. All he did was watch the carriages get the their destination from the back of the line. This time, he was doing the exact same thing. He stared at the carriages in front of him through a small opening between the front and back areas. The informant refused to talk until they were in a safer location, so the mission needed to be a success. He just had to make sure nothing happened, then he could get back to doing more productive things with his time. Perhaps he could even be the one to get the information from the man, but that was just wishful thinking.

His bored thoughts and minor interrogation fantasies were interrupted when a long stream of what seemed to be electricity crashed down into the middle carriage, causing the front one to fall and the one he was in to make a quick turn. He couldn't see what happened after that. He focused on exiting the carriage in a swift manner, trying his hardest to get to the scene of the crime without anything drastic happening. Sadly, something drastic had happened. What seemed to be the empty body of the informant laying lifeless on the ground near the carriage. Mission: failed.

He sighed and decided it would be best to do the next best thing in this situation. "Everyone, focus on capturing that man. He may have information. If capturing is becoming a hindrance, aim to kill. He isn't allowed to escape. Imprisonment or death!" He yelled loud enough for all the hallowed around to hear. He saw feathers scattered on the ground near the criminal and what seemed to be a brief red glow in his eyes, but he wasn't going to care about either of those things until he needed to. He opted to watch his steps and not step on them, just in case they were something else entirely.

There was no better time to get into action than then, so Adalbert took a long, metallic lance from one of his underlings and decided to wait for his best form of attack. Two hallowed ran at the man with their swords drawn, possibly going in for an attack on both of his sides. He hoped they connected something or at least distracted the man long enough for Adalbert to sneak up from behind.

He ran to the back of the carriage, but kept his distance. He stayed the entire lance's 12 feet away from the carriage. He sent an electric current through the lance, connected it to a metal part of the carriage connecting to the roof, and sent a surge to the roof, hoping to shock the male. He wasn't sure how disappointing the hollowed were, so he didn't bank on anything working, which was why he kept his distance.

Eris understood the paranoia that people had, but in her opinion, one place was really no safer than another. Especially out here. Perhaps she'd claim that the main outposts for the Crux would be the safest place to be, but the fact that this informant insisted on them moving seemed redundant. They could be attacked easily in a village, easily in the forests, and easily along the lakeside. However, this informant was notorious for being a pain and refusing to give away anything until he felt the time was just right. They had to be patient and deal with his demands.

Eris was keeping her eyes fixed on the front as best she could from her position in one of the trailing caravans, scanning the path before them for anything suspicious. She did her best to give her fellow Crux the benefit of the doubt, and hoped that they would be on alert for their surroundings. She couldn't watch everything at once, but she knew full well that people got bored... Their senses would dull, they'd pay less attention. Things seemed peaceful, boring as usual, until suddenly the caravans were struck and everything seemed to fan away from the main one that contained their informant.

Scrambling out of the caravan, the immediately saw the black feathers littering the ground before turning her attention to the demon (she assumed) standing over their now lifeless informant. Gritting her teeth she watched as her fellow commander tried to get some kind of sneak attack in while a few hallowed ran at him as well. Though, seeing Adalbert going in for an electrical attack her her concerned. There were often people who were immune to their own powers, so it would be interesting to see if their new opponent would care.

'Be on guard Adalbert, the electricity may not affect him.' She projected her thoughts to the other commander, wanting to make sure he was prepared for some kind of retaliation. All the while, she had her parasol open and ready, her feet positioned so she could dash and block the enemy's electricity again if he decided to send it back.

At this point, Hal was convinced that Ada wanted him to be his butt buddy. After all, whenever something important happened, he ended up dragging Hal wherever he went. So it wasn't surprising, of course, that Hal found himself in the caravan sitting across from two Commanders.

Luckily, he was already familiar with Eris. She was the one who helped him open up to most other Crux members along with Mana. It was safe to say that he was in good hands. And luckily so far, the transport mission seemed to go without a hitch.

Of course, Hal probably thought that too soon as a bolt of lightning struck the carriage, and everyone seemed to have tumbled out of it, if not, were probably dead. Hal looked over to see the informant, also unfortunately dead. Hal got up and readjusted himself based on the situation. Several Hallowed sustained some wounds from the attack, so Hal set about to healing them first.

Once enough Hallowed had been patched up to arrest the demon-person-guy, Hal twirled his staff and dashed forward towards the dude. The first most important thing was to close the gap so he wouldn't have to deal with this ranged bullshit like last time. Or at least, he hoped so.

"Yikes." Roux said as he began to mentally deconstruct the situation he was in. He didn't care about any of the no-name Hallowed that were present, honestly. The only people who caught his interest or maybe caused any form of concern in him were the ones who held actual titles. "Adalbert Falk. Eris Argyros. Halcyone Apollo." He said, his gaze falling on each one of them as he said their names out aloud. He knew who they were based on their faces alone; it wouldn't do well for a rebel to not be able to identify their enemies, and as a Demon Knight he needed to know who was who to properly assess a situation after all.

"Jeepers." He commented when the Hallowed rushed him from either side. Looking between them, he let them get close before reacting. His wings retracted into his body and he extended his arms outwards. It was a bit awkward because the Hallowed had to leap at him due to his position on top of the carriage, but he made it work. Immediately blades extended from his palms, causing the Hallowed to impale themselves on his sudden weapons. But, it distracted him long enough for Adalbert to get close enough to connect the lance to the carriage.

Roux's body jerked in response to the sudden surge of electricity, though his body was able to absorb most of it. Accepting electrical currents into his body that came from other people was always strange, but it was doable. But as he felt the surge, he immediately released a shock of his own that was bound to travel back to Adalbert.

Almost immediately afterwards he ejected the blades from his hands, flinging one of the bodies towards Adalbert as he jumped from the carriage. Landing on the ground with a roll, he immediately recovered and spun around, flinging several blades at Eris. He didn't understand why she wasn't engaging, but that was fine. He'd keep an eye out for her; he figured she was probably biding her time to try and catch him off-guard.

Unlike a certain Valor that was rushing him.

"Oof." More blades extended from his wrists into his hands and he brought his weapons to a clash with Halcyone's staff. Pushing back against him, Roux released a burst of electricity from his body in hopes of catching Halcyone off-guard, prepared to follow up with a kick to the stomach to send the Valor flying into a tree.

A sacred sin, a dying breed
It was pure luck that the impaled and probably dead hallowed were enough of a distraction to buzz the male with his electric attack. He didn't care about the hallowed actually dying since they died with honor in combat. He cared more about the fact that his shock didn't seem to do much. His body jerked, sure, but otherwise he looked the same. He felt the shock from the other male connect through the lance and dropped it without a second thought. How sneaky, his own attack was used against him. He just simply wasn't immune to it like the other male seemed to be. His hand hurt, but not enough to make him stop paying attention to the male. He threw one of the bodies of the hallowed at Adalbert, who reacted by doing a front split and pressing his chest to the floor. Simply ducking out of the way wasn't his style.

As soon as the hallowed's body flew over him, landing not too far from where he sat, he flung his torso up, flipping his hair back in the process. While on the ground he placed the lance in his prosthetic arm and pushed himself from the ground with a light hop, ending up in a crouching position that he then stood up from.

The male has launched a few swords at a hollowed, impaling them and probably killing them. He didn't care enough to check on them. They should have gotten out of the way, so it was their fault.

He sighed and turned back to the fight, where Halcyone was doing his best. He wasn't a fighter, yet he was still trying. He hoped he was okay. The valor was a protective type and Adalbert was a distance fighter, so them not doing well in close combat was to be expected. They had combat experience, so it shouldn't be too bad. He held the lance in front of him and charged, trying to make as little noise as possible. His foot steps were heavy, but they were hopefully covered by everyone else doing literally anything. He kept the pointed end of the lance in line with the murderer, and thrust it in his direction as soon as he was within reach of him.

There really wasn't too much that Hal could do about the predicament. He could feel his staff clashing with the blades. Unfortunately, he could also feel himself being pushed back, the electricity burst being a surprise to him. The kick sent him flying towards a tree, but luckily, Hal activated his Bellicosa and stuck it into the ground, slowing his flight path. As he came to a stop, he sighed in relief. But even that relief was cut short as he watched Adalbert went in with some arm lance thing and immediately, Hal set about healing what few hallowed had survived the attack.

They may be weak, but there was strength in numbers, Hal decided. Once he finished, he put away his staff, and picked up his sword, alighting it with fire. He dashed in again, closing the distance between him and the demon and swung.

Step to the darkness, like it's my goddess
Well, things were going somewhat well so far. For him, at least. Probably not the people he was killing, though. And, somehow, there seemed to be a lot of them. Did Crux Fidelis not teach their Hallowed how to dodge? It was getting to the point where Roux could only wonder if the Hallowed were all living with depression and they actually wanted to die. That's what it seemed like at least.

Very soon the Valor was sent back, but before Roux could follow after him, he felt himself being penetrated from behind. Blinking, he glanced down to the spear that was erupting through his chest and he looked back over his shoulder, spotting the commander.

"Jinkies. Could you not?" Roux inquired somewhat casually - his tone not really fitting the situation he was in. The pain was there and it most definitely hurt, but he couldn't help but be more annoyed by the fact this was the 3rd coat he'd have to replace. That was so not fuego.

Gripping the portion of the spear that was sticking from his chest, he yanked it forward, intent on pulling the commander towards him. He immediately swung his arm back, hoping to either nail the commander in the face with his elbow or force him back.

His attention was drawn towards the Valor rushing towards him and, instinctively, he extended his hand out towards him. Immediately a quick blast of electricity, while not particularly destructive, blew towards Hal as he attempted to, once again, push the Valor away.

Adalbert was decently pleased when he saw the spear impale his oponent. It didn't do much to him, considering he just stood there and asked if he could not. The answer was no, and he would do as he pleased, but he wasn't going to speak to him. This man wasn't worth words. From what he saw, he could barely speak them himself.

Adalbert decided that Halcyone didn't need any more of his help, so he could ignore the male. If he died, he'd die. He could defend himself well enough, so that'd be his fault. Adalbert was going to put all his focus into the male and seeing if he could find ways to defeat him.

The man put his hand on the part of the spear that went through his chest, and Adalbert braced himself for the worst. He felt his body get pulled toward the man, but didn't let go of the spear. Instead, he kept hold of the spear with his metal arm and reached under his skirt to grab the silver knife strapped to his thigh. The elbow hit him in the face with a decent amount of force, possibly breaking his nose, but it wasn't enough to loosen his grip. Adalbert swung the knife and then forced himself to roll backwards, hoping to slice the man across the back as he got out of a close range with him. He would analyze the male a bit more as he fought. He still wasn't sure how to go about defeating him.

The blast of electricity that came seemed quicker this time, yet it was less destructive as the blade on fire met with the electricity. There was a nice crackle and smoke resulting from the interaction as Halcyone was pushed back somewhat again, though this time not as hard nor as far back. And it seemed that Adalbert didn't really require too much assistance on the healing side other than a possibly broken nose, but after the battle that would be easily fixed with the staff.

He flipped a runestone and summoned a copy of himself, and the both of them charged towards the demon knight from both his left and right side, flaming sword ready as Hal aimed for a sweeping arced slash at the man from the left, while the copy from the right. The copy wouldn't be able to physically harm the demon knight anyways, but hopefully it would provide with enough of a distraction. With Adalbert taking advantage of the man's back side, the only spot left open was the front, and there really wouldn't be a point in shifting attention away from two different directions.

@Jageroux @Vincent i finally figured out how to respond :'D
