Mika Kagehira - Ensemble Stars
Karin's abilities all stem from his vampire blood. The only downside to them would be his inability to go into the sun, but that is a price he is willing to pay for everything else.
He has many healing properties having to do with his vampiric nature. He can passively heal his own wounds if they are small enough. He can heal other wounds himself by drinking the blood of either other vampires or humans. The larger the wound is, the more blood he needs. He is also able to heal others with his own blood. The ore injured they are the more blood they need from him.
Most of his senses are unevenly enhanced with his best sense being his sense of smell. He is able to smell the individual ingredients in foods, blood, and many other things. His sense of smell is heightened so much that he can even smell slight differences in others that show what race they are.
Karin's eyesight has been improved to the point of being able to see in the night as if it were daytime. It's pretty useful considering he can no longer go out during the daytime.
His hearing is only slightly heightened. He is able to hear sounds bounce off of other objects, but he's not smart enough to use echolocation.
Karin also has a few minor physical enhancements as well. He is slightly stronger and faster than the average human, but not by much.
Karin firmly believes he is as good as anyone, alive or dead, can get. He only keeps this belief by refusing to acknowledge anything wrong with himself while nitpicking at every fault of others. Even his own faults are somehow the faults of others.
The biggest fault in Karin's personality would be how unnecessarily awkward he is. Sometimes he'd rather put a hood on and ignore the rest of the world instead of continuing a conversation. There are times where he'd go silent in the middle of conversing and just passive aggressively back out of the conversation. He gets the worst when he is in a group of people. He can't find it in himself to speak at all and would likely shut down and sulk away.
Karin didn't grow up with a lavish life. He worked hard and hated every moment of it. He helped out with his family's hotel from the moment he was able to walk. He was taught how to clean up the rooms, often with his mother turning it into a game with a reward. He didn't realize until he was a bit older that it was child labor and not fun.
His personality made him grow to be a bit salty about working without any of the fun he previously had. He was definitely not the happiest child worker in the hotel, but he was the best among his brothers and sisters.
Cleaning up the hotel rooms after each guest made him hate people in general. Most of the rooms had to get checked by his parents before he could even clean them, but he still got a glimpse of all the vile things that went on in the hotel. He was lucky to be able to switch to tending the front counter when he was older, but he had to actually deal with speaking to them. He hated others enough as it was, but social interaction wasn't his strong suit. He preferred it to the cleaning, but the guests could be downright annoying.
He mentioned to his mother, several times, that he hated working during peak hours. His sour attitude was also not doing well for business so she had to do something. After awhile she finally allowed him to switch to the night shift. The people were creepier at night, but they were scarce. It was pretty much perfect for him.
On a night that wasn't particularly different than the others, he gave a room to an especially creepy man that just gave Karin all the wrong vibes, but who was he to judge? Everyone gets a room. He left to put his stuff in his room and came back down to the lobby. Karin didn't really mind. The lobby was nice and sometimes the rooms could get lonely. It wasn't until a few days later that he started to get creeped out. The man would come down every night and simply wait in the lobby. Karin wanted to tell him to leave, but courage wasn't his strong suit.
The very next day he told the man he couldn't wait down there that night. He wanted to congratulate himself on speaking to someone, but it really wasn't worth that much of an accomplishment. He spent the rest of that night proud of himself. When he retired to the room he realized something was wrong. He realized that it was the creepy guest in the lobby just before he felt something hit his head.
Karin woke up a few hours later, but something was wrong. He was freezing and somehow his neck was wet. When he checked his neck he saw it was blood, but he couldn't feel a wound anywhere. He washed the blood off of himself and decided to go to the doctor, but when he went outside he realized the sun was literally burning him. Karin suffered a minor sunburn, but he was still in a lot of pain.. momentarily. His skin healed...somehow.. a few moments later, which was weird. He never had any sort of power, and to suddenly have it was strange. He checked his pulse, his eyes, his teeth, and pretty much everything about him. He was freezing, he healed when he was hurt, and he had no heartbeat. He decided he was pretty much dead and couldn't really do anything about it.
Karin made a few trips to the library after realizing his death had occurred and found a few books on vampires which lined up with his symptoms. That was pretty cool. It made him superior to most the humans, at least.
A few years went by with him not changing in the slightest. He was 22 and barely looked a day over 17. Looking young wasn't that bad, but he knew once he got older it would be a problem. His parents and siblings made a few comments about his never-changing appearance, but he wasn't bothered.
