All the while, Apocrypha continues to gain public sympathy and support while the Black Sun Cabal and Poena Damni continue to wreak havoc. Ada Leah - Recovered Memory
Isolde was born with the gift of insight like her parents before her. This has given her the ability to see into the future with the sillage she uses determining how far she can see. She can see into her own future and that of others, given that they ar specific about an outcome that they wish to see. However, she doesn’t just see one future as there are many depending on the various choices one makes in order to get there, but she does see the most likely ones to occur.
Knowing that reciting a dozen different ways one could go about achieving their desire future is annoying, Isolde has a the ability to influence which one is more likely to happen and can even destroy paths - the lost likelihood distributing itself among the remaining paths thus increasing the likelihood that the others will occur. She can also, if she narrows the possible paths down to two, make the likelihood of either path occurring by making them an even fifty-fifty - though only when one path is more likely to happen over another and she uses this if the other path is more dangerous or unwanted by her client.
Of course, with this ability comes various drawbacks and weaknesses. For starters, seeing into the future is taxing on Isolde’s sillage and will exhaust her greatly. Depending on how far she sees into the future, she can also suffer from physical backlashes as a result - such as migraines, drowsiness, and bleeding (nose, mouth) just to name a few. The same can be said of her destroying paths to futures as it takes a toll to remove a way to achieve a future, the fewer futures there are to eliminate the harder the backlash. And even making two paths to a future equally likely to occur is taxing as well.
Clarity can also be an issue for Isolde if there’s a lot of paths to a future and so, she generally is likely to destroy some just to gain better clarity at the behest of her client which puts her at risk. It should also be noted that no future can be made one hundred percent change of occurring. There has to always be at least two paths to a future and so, her client would have to just pick the better path and follow it.
The only futures that have one path is the short glimpses that she sees. These are futures that will occur within seconds and thus, the path has already been chosen and the likelihood of something disturbing it is unlikely - the interruption would have to be spontaneous.
Isolde is an apathetic individual with a very limited range of emotions. She has no passion or ambitions and seems perfectly content with simply existing instead of discovering things that would bring her joy.
Isolde is well-spoken and articulate, the woman being very well educated in her childhood, however she is horrendous when it comes to social interactions. She’s either too blunt, ruining any chance of friendship with her complete disregard for tact and constant need to point stuff out, or too quiet, so much so that one would consider it unsettling.
Isolde social life isn’t helped by her coming off as either aloof, arrogant, or even worse, both. Paired this with a total lack of interest in anything, finding any common interest is nigh impossible to pinpoint and makes relating to her difficult.
Isolde is very consistent and lives a mundane lifestyle full of routine as a result. There’s rarely any variation from her day to day life and though this would bore most to tears, it does not bother her.
Isolde is fully aware of her faults and that she’s the odd one, not the people around her. However, she has no reason to develop beyond the emotionally stunted adult she grew up to be.
Isolde, despite what appearances may suggest, interacts with people regularly as she willingly takes glimpses into other people’s future and will even help guide them on the correct path to achieve their desired result.
Isolde Kal is the only child born to Tristan and Iseult Kal. She is the youngest member of a dying line of seers, the clan being plagued with fertility issues and a high mortality rate for the better part of the century. Thus, her birth is a blessing to her parents and gives them a renewed hope that the family line can continue well after they are again.
As the only child of the couple, as well as the last of her line for the foreseeable future, Isolde is raised under what many would consider harsh circumstances. Fully aware of their short lifespan, the couple focuses on ensuring their daughter becomes a great seer. Though they do not neglect their child, she isn’t showered by their love nor drowning in their praises. She craves for their affection like any child, but slowly adapts to live without it.
Due to her upbringing, Isolde doesn’t mourn the death of her parents when they die in a freak accident when she’s sixteen. Instead, she carries on with life, guided by her visions of the future. She remains in her family home in Caersewiella, quietly living off the fortune left to her by her deceased parents.
