Practice of Sedition
In a world built upon a foundation of conflict, the past year has been notably violent. As Crux Fidelis, the Crusaders and ruling faction of Sium, suffer heavy losses from a particularly bloody Aphelion, other factions are emboldened to take action. Despite being allies, Weltschmerz's ambitious and duplicitous nature sees them taking bigger risks which threaten to break their alliance. All the while, Apocrypha continues to gain public sympathy and support while the Black Sun Cabal and Poena Damni continue to wreak havoc. As Sium races towards yet another conflict, it’s evident that a war lurks on the horizon.

Even after five years, still Ikarus carries his twin pistols. But several Weltschmerz raids later and paying the right people has allowed the weapons to grow alongside him. While they still rely heavily on his Sillage to operate, he now has more options when using the guns. Still capable of firing high-impact Sillage-rounds, Ikarus has learned how to fire elemental bullets through the gun. Meaning that one shot may just be a simple explosion, while the next may erupt into a mass of ice capable of freezing the effected area. The biggest upgrade is that, while it's only one shot, he can combine the guns to form a single rifle. Using a substantial amount of Sillage, he can fire several shots capable of disabling or outright destroying enemy flagships. But, this is quite taxing for both him and the guns, so it's more of a last resort.
Vampire Physiology:
As a vampire, Ikarus now has supernatural strength, speed, endurance and durability. In addition to this, his senses are heightened – he can track and locate people off of their scent and heartbeat alone. In the dark, he has perfect eyesight and can even locate people through a sort of echolocation even if they turn invisible. Naturally, he requires blood to survive and the longer he goes without it, the weaker he becomes. Because he was originally a dhampyr, he still has mild resistance to sunlight. It can still burn and agitate him with prolonged exposure, but he won’t just burst into flames and die from it. Regardless, he’s not fond of the sun and has grown to appreciate the night and the moon over the past five years.

- Ikarus is capable of manipulating his blood to extreme levels. From hardening his blood to the point of being able to match even magically enchanted or reinforced weapons to firing blood 'bullets'. When using these abilities, several markings appear on his arms, a hereditary trait he received from his father.

- Ikarus, being the son of an elementalist, has control over various elements. Over the past five years, with guidance from his sister, he’s honed his technique and skills when it comes to manipulating the elements. Now able to use all four base elements (Air/Fire/Earth/Water), he’s begun to learn how to properly merge them to widen the variety available to him, as well as being able to use multiple at once (he can use ice and fire at the same time now, for example).]

- Ikarus is extremely skilled when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, even without his Blood or Elemental Manipulation. He had shown an efficiency in various forms of martial arts due to his time in the fighting pits. Aside from that, over the past five years he’s continued to train even more strenuously, especially after joining Apocrypha.

- Even after five years, he’s still a heartbender.
personality/fun facts
Ikarus is a person that demands loyalty from those close to him. And in return, he rewards them with the same. Ikarus is a man of his word, through and through. If he makes a promise, he keeps it. He lives and dies by his word; despite being a criminal, the concept of 'honor among thieves' is something that's been ingrained in his psyche. Due to this, Ikarus can sometimes find himself in unfavorable situations in the somewhat likely chance someone tries to stab him in the back or betray him.

Fortunately, Ikarus has been stabbed in the back and betrayed so many times he's grown quite perceptive. He can easily detect when someone is lying to him; even the most accomplished of liars and con-men can be seen through by Ikarus, to the point it's almost like a sixth sense.

Even after five years, Ikarus' penchant for brutal honesty can still lead to him coming off as somewhat caustic in nature. He doesn't mince words, though sometimes he'll be 'nicer' in how he says them. Sometimes. Most of the time he just says what needs to be said whether people like it or not; he's not really concerned with people liking him, but no one will ever be able to call him a liar or the type to pussyfoot around.

All in all, Ikarus can be a very calming person to be around if you can withstand his blunt responses and the way he's not afraid to speak his mind. He typically accepts even the most wild aspects of a person without much criticism, unless you're like just actually completely fucked in the head, due to the fact a majority of his crew is comprised of fuck ups and people who don't really 'belong' in the world. He accepts people for what they are, even the negative aspects. He expects perfection from no one, only honesty.

When it comes to his crew, he's less blunt. A bit more friendly. He's more liable to smile, laugh and joke around. He treats them like something of an extended family; even if they were to leave the crew, so long as it was on amicable terms, he'll still treat them as a sort of extended family. And, on the topic of family --

There is nothing Ikarus won't do for his daughter. Undoubtedly the most important person to him, he's died for her once and he's not afraid to do it again. He has an unwavering love for her and will do anything in his power to ensure her safety and happiness. Even when she acts wholly insufferable, he's generally quick to forgive her. He spoils her despite knowing he probably shouldn't.

And when it comes to Hala, his... wife, he does his best to keep her happy as well. Even if sometimes it can be a bit difficult. Quite difficult. Still, he does whatever he can to keep her content. From teaching her more and more about Sium to taking her out to nice places that don't have any Weltschmerz bullshit around to ruin their dates. Hala and Halia are his family and he'll do whatever it takes to keep them content and happy.
Ikarus's father was a cruel man - an aged vampire who only sought to indulge in base desires regardless of the costs or consequences. But, vampires can be killed - and he was a man who valued his life too much. So he struck a deal with a witch to gain true immortality - to grant him life until time itself died. But, he was truly a cruel man and he inevitably betrayed the witch who placed a curse on his immortality. A 'clause' - he would be able to live through any trauma and regenerate from any state, giving him the immortality he wished for, unless it was caused by his own offspring.

This did little to deter the man from engaging in his indulgences. He was as a slave to his desire, so he continued to live freely - bedding who and what he wanted before murdering any woman who could have potentially given birth to an offspring. Except for one - Lady Delcroix. As an Elementalist, she was more than capable of evading his cruelty after he seduced her, and with the protection of her parents she was safe from the vampire.

She didn't understand why he sought to kill her after their night of intimacy, but he did. Dread and horror filled her at the realization that she was pregnant, and her parents made the decision for her. The decision to give away the young boy, a half-vampire, half-human monstrosity, was one that was quickly agreed upon. While killing the child would have perhaps been safer, the fact of the matter was he still carried their noble blood, as diluted as it was and the murder of an infant would weigh on their conscience.

So, the child was left in the slums of Ravanar - a far cry from the sophisticated and extravagant city of Empyrean. And it was here that the child, who became known as Ikarus, grew. Though, for most of his life he was only referred to as Norwyn - he had no 'first' name. He spent many of his formative years under the care of Damien Hyde, another urchin of Ravanar. The older child was responsible for several of the unwanted bastards, until one day tragedy struck and most were left dead or believed to be dead.

Ikarus was taken in by one of the Crime Bosses of Ravanar who was only known as 'The Gentleman' due to his charming demeanor and suave nature. He considered himself a curator of the 'finer' things as he handled the smuggling of drugs and distribution of other contraband in Ravanar. He taught Ikarus many things, but more than anything he instilled in the a child a worldview of cynicism and nihilism.

Ikarus was raised in the fighting pits where he became desensitized to the violence. It became natural and his 'normal' to take the lives of others and to watch people die. More and more, the Gentleman pushed Ikarus to embrace his vampire side and to abandon his humanity entirely. It was a slow but methodical process that saw Ikarus becoming less of a person and more of a weapon.

Overtime, several abilities began to manifest in the dhampyr. From way he could control and manipulate his own blood, using it as a weapon, to his mild control of certain elements. He was indeed poised to become a very effective weapon, but there was a part of Ikarus that still desired more despite all of the conditioning he was subjected to. And those desires were spurned on by the whispers of the Gentleman's enemies who subtly suggested and pushed for Ikarus to rebel against the man who sought to strip him of his humanity.

And plans were made between Ikarus and no one but himself. He knew he lived in a den of vipers, and he knew the people who urged him to go against the Gentleman weren't doing it for his sake but for their own gain. And so, slowly, Ikarus began to plot and scheme a way for him to attain his own freedom.

A freedom that could only be bought by the death of the Gentleman. It wouldn't be an easy task but it was what he had to do. And so, that's what he did. It started off slowly and subtly, when certain key members of the Gentleman's organization 'disappearing' while Ikarus came across an old and decrepit ship - the Astral Magus. It was a relic from a time that had long past and it had been marked to be stripped of its parts and used elsewhere.

Instead, Ikarus had the ship silently restored. He had his plan and he knew what he would do. He would be free. From the Gentleman and Ravanar. When Damien returned to Ravanar, Ikarus had all of the pieces he needed to stage his coup. It was a violent and bloody affair that saw the murder of the Gentleman and those that sought to usurp him dead.

The only one left standing, bloodied and bruised, was Ikarus with Damien at his side. And, from that moment, Ikarus replaced the Gentleman and all of his cohorts. He knew all about the business the Gentleman ran and he knew how to handle it better.

He unveiled the Astral Magus, the ancient airship having been fully restored. The former captain of the ship had been named Ikarus, so the dhampyr took his name. 'Ikarus Norwyn, the King of Bastards' - it was a title that was bestowed upon him by the people who had followed him and aided him in his rebellion against the Gentleman, and while he didn't necessarily want it, accepted it.

He didn't view himself as much of a 'king' but if those that followed him claimed him to be one, then he would appease them. Afterwards, he formed a shaky alliance with Roman Genovese, the Blood Baron. They would work together for their own reasons, and they'd respect each others' territory. It was a simple agreement but one Ikarus had no intention of breaking.

It was also around this time Ikarus came across Faline Korin, a former Crux Fidelis Sky Captain. And in her, he found someone to captain his ship. And, as they traveled, they accumulated more and more peculiar individuals.

As the best smuggler in all of Sium and a crime boss of Ravanar, Ikarus was subject to lots of attention. And, during the course of one of his journeys, he encountered the Horseman of War, Nekros. While he doesn't speak about what transpired, it ended with him forming an agreement to act as a smuggler for the Black Sun Cabal.

Now, Ikarus continues to juggle all of his responsibilities while also being the best dad in all of Sium. Sometimes, he'll even leave responsibility to the crew to Zena just so he can spend time to his daughter. And... Sometimes even his 'wife', Hala.

Timeskip Update

After the Black Sun Cabal lost their God and Horsemen, Ikarus decided to ditch the cult the moment it became unprofitable to work for them. Moving on, he and his crew spent quite some time working freelance -- taking the odd jobs here and there. It worked out well for quite some time, despite some members leaving while new ones joined.

In that span of time, Ikarus continued to improve as both a father and a leader. He grew closer to his crew members, etching out more meaningful connections with a majority of them, while also splitting his time to properly raise his daughter. And also to try and figure out a way to properly live alongside and with Hala.

He also continued to mentor Longshanks, doing his best to bring out the girl's full potential. In her, he saw someone capable of succeeding him, given time and proper direction. That almost became his main goal -- while he enjoyed the life of a sky pirate, he found himself frequently thinking about and considering what would be best for his daughter. He didn't want Halia to be forced to live the life he did -- in a lot of ways, he just wanted to keep her safe and allow her to grow up happily and peacefully.

As such, eventually, he slowly started to separate himself from his crime syndicate in Ravanar. And while he still 'owns' it to this day, he's less involved with it -- having begun to divide it up and assign certain aspects of it to people who seemed capable. Outside of that, he continued to run the crew as a freelance band of mercenaries.

After being approached by Corvyx, however, the crew of the Astral Magus soon found themselves apart of Apocrypha's Sleipnir Fleet. Or rather, they were the Sleipnir Fleet. Ikarus' and his crew's expertise and experience as sky pirates made them the most suitable option, as well as the fact they'd encountered Aracelis Ships on multiple occasions.

Now officially apart of Apocrypha, Ikarus continues to lead his crew while also balancing his own personal life. He continues to train Longshanks into becoming his successor, while also dealing with his daughter who's growing increasingly rebellious to the point of dating some fucking werewolf despite his disapproval. Sometime during the 5 year span, he even managed to keep the promise he made to Hala.
