His right eye was the result of an experiment gone wrong.
Potions- Potions are created through many complex formulas that had mostly be used for medicinal and commercial needs though very few mages use potions for combat due to their limited amount of potions they can use and generally how expensive it is to procure the ingredients necessary.
However those who have mastered the art of potion brewing are known for being powerful, versatile mages. The abilities that a potion can grant the user are nearly infinite and they make for amazing support units due their versatility. Even the same potion can have a different effect depending how it is used although the effects tend to not be positive. For example, a potion whose magical scent is meant to wake up those who are under sleep magic can be poisonous if it is consumed.
Drinking or injecting certain potions will allow him to use a certain kind of magic depending on the potion. These potions contain high concentration of Sillage and for a short amount of time, Krieger can use it, but only one potion at a time. If he took another before the initial potion wore off then it would kill him.
The weakness is that he can only bring so many at a time.
Cain and Abel- They are a pair of mechanical gauntlets he created. Their first purpose is to act as storage for vials of potions he brings with him. Their second function is to inject those vials of potions into his bloodstream. Their final function is that since Krieger struggles to control the powers that come from the potions, they also act as a conduit to focus his power and use it efficiently so he does not use it all at once.
White Phosphorus Bombs: Used as an incendiary weapon, white phosphorus is pyrophoric (self-igniting), burns fiercely and can ignite cloth, skin, fuel, ammunition, and other combustibles. Can also obscure vision and allow for cover.
Tear Gas- Exactly what it sounds like.
Potions Master- Despite his young age, Ranulph is extremely skilled in creating potions. His potions alone are at such a high quality that they are far more effective than the potions of veterans and fetch for a lot of money if he ever decided to sell them or trade them in for something of equal value. However that skill stems from extensive knowledge from other academics ranging from chemistry to botany to zoology.
Chemistry- Of course he is capable of producing far more than just potions, such as producing non-magical chemical weaponry though that is just the tip of the iceberg. His knowledge is of course extensive and has been a great contribution to the Welts. It is quite incredible; everything about a person can be broken down to a chemical compound, down to their very atoms, until all individuality is lost. Chemistry is such a big field that it requires knowledge and skill of multiple fields, all that Ranulph can confidently say has great skill in. In tandem with his other skills, he can modify people if given enough time.
Medical Knowledge- Ranulph has a great knowledge of anatomy and biology of not just humans, but of most creatures. He typically uses it to act like a pharmacist, knowing how his potions affect people differently, especially different species and thus creates potions specified for them. He is also able to use it for combat, knowing the natural weak points of creatures in order to take them down as quickly and efficiently as possible. Ranulph is capable of performing complex surgery as well.
Sleight of Hand- He is really good at it and he sure needed to be good at it when he lived in The District. Pick pocketing was one the ways that he survived and then it turned into him using it to cheat in casinos in order to win. The key is misdirection and he is certainly the master of it. He is able to do so much with it and on top of it all, it does not look any more different than his natural motions. He is also just really good at tricks involving cards and dice, just for fun.
Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant- As someone who loves to conduct "practical experiments," he is proficient with close quarters combat to the point where he can keep up with someone of the more militant members of Weltschmerz. However, his fighting style is not a formal form of martial arts, but it is more like what he had picked up from fighting a lot of people on the street, both trained fighters and street sluggers.
Modified Human Physiology- After conducting several experimenting on himself, he has gained enhance physical abilities, such as superhuman strength, speed, and durability. He can smash stone and concrete with a good blow and he is fast enough to keep up a decent amount of people. He can also take more punishment than the average human though his body pales in comparison to the durability of many others. Strangely, he noticed that his body has begun to decrease his aging as well though not by much.
Ranulph is an asshole, plain and simple. No, he is not an asshole because he is secretly a sensitive man with a sob story. He is an asshole because he is just an asshole. Being rude and selfish is just second nature to him. Snide, sarcastic comments flow out of his mouth like water out of a river. Perhaps that comes from his view on that the world is a shitty place and he will throw shit back at it.
Ranulph is a very curious individual so it is not uncommon to find him researching something completely random. Should he focus that on his job then he would make even more headway.
Typically, he is calm and collected, but he has a violent streak. Unlike most of the scientist, he will go out to fight in combat just for his "practical experiments." That is more or less his excuse for him to run wild and beat the living hell out of things.
He was also gifted with the gift of gab, meaning he is a smooth talker that can talk his way out of anything. It also helps him become one hell of a salesman and a spokesperson.
He likes to play pranks on people, but the pranks he pulls are poor in taste to everyone besides him.
If there is anything kind to say about him, it is that when it comes to his work as a scientist he is actually passionate and has some form of integrity. Still it would be unfair to say that he is not capable of kindness or anything like that; it's just that he would express it in a smart ass sort of way.
His current interests fall in line with studying Sillage. Anyone who thinks that it is something that should be rejected is an idiot who is wasting resources.
Knows how to play the piano. It was the only thing that his mother ever shared with him.
A slum rat from birth, he had to steal and fight in order to survive. His parents could not provide the life that was needed for a child nor did they even want to so Ranulph was on his own to survive. His mother was once a concert pianist of prestigious musical group and his father was a guy with big dreams, but nothing to show for it nor the gumption to keep on going, dragging down everyone in his life that did not cut ties with him. In order to survive Ranulph stole whatever and whenever he could To satisfy his curious nature he stole books and one day he stole a book about potions, something that would become his weapon of choice.
By the time he was fifteen, he had learned how to use this form of magic, using it to make a pretty penny in order to feed himself. Ranulph had long since left his family and became more or less a travelling salesman and life, well, it was a clusterfuck. His life was still filled with fighting, gangs, illegal activity, and more as trouble seemed to find him no matter where he went. Perhaps fate and different plans for him; word got out that a young man was creating high class potions drew the attention of many different characters. One these characters was a professor from prestigious university well known for its science programs and the people it had produced.
What the professor found was more than just a simple potion maker; he found a boy with an untapped genius intellect being wasted. What happened was that the professor offered to become his mentor. However that would also mean he would have to become a student at the university where he would learn everything that he knows today.
In the end he would become a student, but he melded in like oil in water. He was far more crude, rude, and violent compared to his peers and he certainly did not get along with almost any of his teachers. It was not a secret that he thought he was smarter than everyone else and the truth was that he probably was smarter than them. It does not help that he was one of the youngest students in the university's history. If it was not for the fact the professor was sponsoring him, he would have been kicked out a long time ago.
After he graduated, he immediately applied for a job with with Weltschmerz and has been with them ever since.
Due to not being a genocidal Nazi, Ranulph left the Welts. It wasn't that he developed a conscious, after all, he had done horrible things during his time with them, but even he could not stand for them. He wound up moving to Riparis where he would open his own clinic as well as his own private lab due to some favors that were owed to him, some string pulling, and coercion. On the side, he still sells his potions and still does some seedy, probably not legal activities though he at least does not let it get involved with his main business.
